Virginia Lee Edwards, a devoted caregiver who touched the lives of many, was born on September 7, 1939, in Monticello, Arkansas. She departed this world on September 19, 2025, in Conway, Arkansas, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family and community. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Edwards, her parents Hugh and Gertrude Fields, and her sisters, Joyce Smith, Bridgette McCollum and Louise Swint.

Virginia's character was defined by her warm and loving nature, which shone brightly throughout her life. She cherished her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always putting her family at the heart of everything she did. Her proudest accomplishment was serving as a foster grandmother to the children at Greenbrier Elementary School, a testament to her endless compassion and nurturing spirit. Virginia’s love for children and her community resonated deeply and will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She leaves behind her children, Sharon Stroder and her husband Carl and Mike Gajeski and his wife Karen, grandchildren, Bryan Gajeski and his wife Mel, David Pope, Becky Wilds, Joe Wilds and his wife Ashley, Mindy Barr and her husband Chris, Amy Fortner and her husband Josh, and Michael Gajeski and his wife Bri. She also leaves behind 21 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren and special friends Benny and Donna Zimmerman.

Raised in the country, she often recalled her youth spent picking cotton, defining her resiliency and connection to her roots.

Virginia Edwards' life will be celebrated during a visitation on September 25, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. Both services will take place at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, located at 448 AR-25 in Guy, Arkansas.

She is lovingly remembered by all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the cherished memories shared by family and friends. Virginia’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, laughter, and service, leaving an indelible mark on all whose lives she touched.
