Teddie Boothe Langford, age 92, of New Edinburg, went to be with his Lord on June 29, 2025. He was born on October 23, 1932, to the late Eli and Lila Langford. Teddie's life was marked by dedication and service to his community and family. He loved his family.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Teddie served diligently during the Korean War, embodying the values of commitment and duty. He was a humble servant to his country, community, and his Lord, and he loved his community immensely. Upon returning home, he embarked on a multifaceted career that showcased his incredible skills and work ethic. Teddie was a member of Mt. Elba Missionary Baptist Church in New Edinburg, where he was song director for over 50 years. He also devoted 35 years to being a Sears service technician. Most notably, he held the esteemed position of Chief of the New Edinburg Fire Department for an impressive 40 years, a role in which he touched the lives of many and earned the respect of his fellow firefighters and the community.
Teddie was known for his remarkable ability to fix anything, a skill that endeared him to those around him. His hobbies included fox hunting, and he was an avid fan of baseball and basketball. One of his favorite hobbies was singing and going to all the homecomings and singings in the area. Teddie also cherished his time spent on his farm, where he raised horses and cows. His passion for the game extended to coaching and umpiring little league baseball, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork to countless young athletes. He was a tomato farmer and grew a huge vegetable garden, he loved to share his fruits and vegetables with anyone that needed it.
In addition to his many accomplishments, Teddie was loved by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Catherine Childress Langford, and his siblings, Linda Lila Langford, Wardell Langford, Dale Askew, and Madeline Knight.
He is survived by his daughters Kay Garlington and her husband Ronnie, Nancy Wilson and her husband Butch, his siblings Mary Faith Richardson, Patsy Nell Norton, Rex Langford and Jerry Langford, grandchildren Jenny Smead and her husband Captain, Lindsey Fleming and her husband Eric, Leigha Workman and her husband Chris, Cassidy Wilson and Jen, great-grandchildren John Avery Wilson, Ross Smead and his fiancé Hannah Miller, Case Smead, Kyzer Workman, and Asher Workman, his special nieces Vicki Bowen and her family, Patricia McClellan and her family who were like his family.
Visitation will be held on July 1, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Buie Funeral Home in Rison, Arkansas. A graveside service will take place at New Edinburg Cemetery on July 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
