Stephen Lawrence Tubbs

Jul 3, 1977 — Aug 1, 2026

Sheridan

Stephen Lawrence Tubbs, 49, of Sheridan, Arkansas went to be with Jesus on August 1, 2026, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas after a long battle with cancer.

Stephen was born July 3, 1977, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas as the third child of Barbara Jane Tubbs and the late Carol Gene Tubbs, both of Sheridan.

Growing up, Stephen enjoyed spending time teasing his bigger brother and sister, being the

"handyman" of the group, and spending time outdoors, especially when it meant going hunting or fishing with his father.

After high school, Stephen spent time self-employed as a flooring technician where he developed a specialty in custom tile designs, with much of his work still visible today in multiple households and businesses around central Arkansas. Later, he prided himself as the greenskeeper at Sheridan Golf Club, where he enjoyed playing a few holes and made it his personal mission to get the course into the best shape possible.

In his spare time, Stephen enjoyed drawing and creating artwork, playing the guitar and drums with his family and friends, and tinkering with carpentry or mechanical-related projects.

Known affectionately by his family as "TT" and by lifelong friends as "Weaver" Tubbs, Stephen was always known for the compassion he possessed for others, his ability to love people for exactly who they were, and for his ability to crack anybody up regardless of what they were going through. Stephen was the type of person who wouldn't hesitate to stop whatever he was doing if it meant going to lend somebody a helping hand. He was a cherished friend to many, and a source of positivity to those facing their personal struggles. Even in the face of a difficult diagnosis, Stephen never stopped choosing to be an optimistic and loving person, a quality he carried with him to his final days.

He is preceded in death by his father, Carol Tubbs of Sheridan. Survivors include his mother Barbara Tubbs of Sheridan, brother Donald (Donnita) Tubbs of Sheridan, sister Carla Lumsden (Adam Bray) of Haskell, two sons, Brody and Ryder Tubbs of Sheridan, partner Christina Fleming of Sheridan, and a multitude of nieces and nephews and close friends.
