Shirley Gean Worthen, 88, of Sheridan passed away Thursday February 12, 2026, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Born July 19, 1937, in Hensley, Arkansas to the late Marion and Martha Lucille Lawrence Funderburg, Shirley work most of her life caring for her family as a homemaker. She married in 1953 to her love, Runyon Worthen, celebrating 66 years together before his passing in 2019. She was a member of the Cedar Branch Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, sewing, and her numerous grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Garland Worthen and wife Toby, Lawrence B. (Larry) Worthen and wife Barbara, Donna Knight, Elizabeth Smith and Husband Gary, all of Sheridan, Arkansas; siblings Mildred Brasher, Betty Welch, Martha Moltz, Kathy Reichenbach along with 10 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.

Shiley is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Richard Funderburg, Jimmy Dale Funderburg, Ronnie Funderburg, Sue Boils and son-in-law Lamar Knight.

Visitation will be Monday February 16, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm at Buie and Cole Funeral Home in Sheridan. Funeral services will be Tuesday February 17, 2026, at 11am at Cedar Branch Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Carlin Gray officiating. Burial to follow in Phillips Cemetery.

Shirley’s grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
