Nola Mae (Bradley) Rushing was born September 6, 1945. Our beloved Momma, Sweet Grandma, Great-Grandma, Aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at UAMS on Sunday, October 26th , 2025 at the age of 80, surround by her family. She was reunited in Heaven with her devoted husband Bill, who preceded her in death just a few months earlier. Their love and partnership are now whole again.
Born and raised in Cleveland County, Nola graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1963 and later dedicated her life to raising her family. A proud homemaker, and part-time licensed hair dresser, she gave many haircuts and perms on her front porch, telling teenagers to go buy
themselves a hamburger when they tried to pay her. She also worked side-by-side with her husband during the years he owned his business, offering steadfast support and companionship during long drives to job sites, then placing his tools and supplies where he would need them,
and reloading the truck after. She was true helpmate in every sense of the word. She leaves behind to celebrate her life three children; Tony (Shawn) Rushing, Bill “Eddie” (Sheila) Rushing, and Lori (Joe) Rotton all of Woodlawn, and bonus daughter Claudia (Dale) Dixon of Pottsville.
She also leaves a loving legacy in grandchildren Tony “TJ” Rushing, Jesse (Emily) Rushing, Alicia (Bryce) Ware, Caroline (Casey) Dixon, Andrew Rushing, Matthew Rushing, Hayden Rushing, Zachary (Hannah) Rotton, Jackson Rotton, and Parker Rotton as well as bonus Grandchildren Allison Harris, Ricky (Dakota) Harris, Spencer (Madison) Harris, Louie (Kassie) Hurst, William (Katy) Hurst, Trey (Lacey) Hankins, Miller Dixon, and Alex Clark and 24 Great grandchildren with the 25th that she was very excited about due in March.
Additionally, she survived by siblings, Charlotte Munn of El Dorado and Fred Bradley of Mount Ida and special nephew Jeff Bradley of Quitman who was more like a brother than nephew, Sisters-in-Law Ruby (Gene) Herring, Ann Thom, Brenda Clemons, and Connie Mason, Brothers- in-Law Tellis Ray (Patty) Rushing, Richard (Monika) Rushing, and Kent Smurl, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Nola dearly.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Bill Rushing, her parents Clifton and Dorothy Bradley, great-grandson Conner Rushing, and siblings Billie Glover, Mildred Mars, June Bradley, Lloyd Bradley, Joe Bradley, Kenneth Bradley, Elizabeth (Libby) Carroll, and infant brothers Jewel Clifton and Thomas Leon Bradley.
Known for her sharp wit, sassy humor, and brutally honest advice, Nola was the kind of woman who made everyone laugh, made a few cry, kept everyone in line, and loved fiercely with her whole heart. She had a way of telling the truth that you did not always want to hear – but always needed. Her love was felt by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched but her legacy of strength, laughter, and love will continue through the generations of her family.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 29th from 6-8 pm at Buie-Cole Funeral Home in Rison. Services will be at 2 pm on Thursday, October 30th at Buie-Cole with Brother Ricky Glover officiating. Burial to follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery with her grandsons servicing as pallbearers. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and share memories of a woman who was truly one-of-a-kind.
