Montay (Bud) Baker, 89, passed from this life on November 9, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born in Georgetown, Arkansas to Montay and Hixie Baker on August 4, 1935.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of 39 years, Patricia A Baker, the mother of his children, Christine, Michael, Angela, Greta, and Monty (Shad). He is also preceded in death by one brother, five sisters, a son, Michael, grandson, Jason, and son in law, Jonny Johnston.
He later found another life partner, Viola Snelson. They spent 20 years together until her passing. Spent the last seven years with girlfriend, Billie Ford.
Montay is survived by his children Christine Davis (James), Angela McAnally (Ron), Greta Johnston, Monty (Shad) Baker (Joann).
He was the proud patriarch of 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
Bud was a Veteran in the Korean War. He was a tree trimmer for many years. He also did mechanic work during his life.
He lived in many places before finally settling in his old stomping grounds of Georgetown, Arkansas. There he enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, and the many grandchildren that lived nearby. He was a member of the Elk Lodge Searcy, post 2247. Through the many years, he made many friends from all walks of life. He lived a good long life and will be missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cole Funeral Home and Crematory in Kensett, Arkansas. A Graveside service will be held at Georgetown Cemetery on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Bill Mills officiating.
