Mildred Ann Whisnant

Jun 24, 1948 — Jul 29, 2026

Sherwood

Mildred Ann Whisnant, 78, of Sherwood went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 29, 2026. She was born June 24, 1948 in Gould, Arkansas to the late Virgil and Ruth Jones. Mildred graduated from Tillar High School in 1965 and went on to attend ASU Beebe. She was a thirty-eight-year member of Sherwood First Church of the Nazarene. She was active in Children’s church and Vacation Bible School where she enjoyed serving as a Leader. Mildred enjoyed playing cards, archiving family genealogy with her sister, Geneva, and traveling. She met her late husband, David Allan Whisnant when she was working at Asher Dry Cleaners and was set up on a blind date. That date led to fifty years of marriage. During that fifty years Mildred and her husband built a home and family. David and Ann directed the Fall Festival and spent their lives dedicated to serving their church. Ann and David also worked together every year to grow a large vegetable garden. They enjoyed canning and gifting the rewards of their hard work to friends and family. Although Ann worked several different jobs during her career, most of her time was spent taking care of her husband, children and later grandchildren. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother who would extend her home and resources to anyone in need. She was always happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved. Although Ann loved all of her family with all of her heart, she cherished her relationship with her sister, Geneva. They were inseparable, almost as if they shared the same heart. Mrs. Whisnant was a woman of true integrity who lived the values of her Christian Faith.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Whisnant was preceded in death by a son, David Adam Whisnant; granddaughter, Maria Briann Whisnant; siblings, Billy Jones, Jeanetta Jones, Carl Jones, Bobby Jones, Ralph Jones and Geneva Stodghill.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles (Vicky) Whisnant, Laura (David) Inmon, Susan (Jason) Phillips; grandchildren, Charles Adam Whisnant, Emily (Will) Wilson, Jack Ryan Inmon, Simon Phillips, Mollie Inmon, and George Aaron Phillips. Other survivors include great grandchildren, Jace, Justice, Charlotte, Adleigh and Ellie Mae; and her best friend from childhood, Pat Hall; along with a host of extended family and many friends.
