Mary Ellen Rawls

Mary Ellen Rawls age 85 of Rison, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2007. She was born January 17, 1922 in Rison, a daughter of the late Walter and Cora Parsons Lloyd. Her father, Walter immigrated to America from Wolverhampton, England through Ellis Island. Mrs. Rawls was a long time employee of Rison Public School and a member of Rison Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Rawls whom she married on October 4, 1943. They lived by a lighthouse on the California coast, where J. C. served his country in the U. S. Coast Guard; two sisters, Virginia Greene, Doreen Wyatt, one grandson, Jarrod Rogers; son-in-law, James Rogers.

Mrs. Rawls is survived by one son, David Rawls of Rison; two daughters, Sharon Louise Rogers of Woodlawn, Carolyn Sue Mitchell of Little Rock; three brothers, Martin Lloyd of Rison, Charles Lloyd of Waxahachie, Texas, Robert Lloyd of Fordyce; three grandchildren, Reasa Britt, Gary Mitchell and Kevin Mitchell; five great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Greenwood Cemetery with Brother Wade Totty officiating. Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2007 at Buie Funeral Home of Rison. Arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
