Manard O. Reed

Manard O. Reed age 82 of Bigelow, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Friday January 30, 2009 at Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born December 6, 1926 in Rison, a son of the late Jack and Bertha Chapman Reed. Mr. Reed served in the Army during World War II. He was a long time employee of Central Maloney in Pine Bluff and was a member of Whiteville Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Olen Reed of Pine Bluff, Max Reed of Richmond, Kentucky.

Mr. Reed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Thompson Reed of Bigelow; son, Manard O. Reed Jr and daughter-in-law, Vicky, of White Hall; daughter, Susan Cole and son-in-law Gary of Bigelow; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Carren Reed of Topeka, Kansas, Evan and Mary Lou Reed and Wayne and Myra Reed both of Rison; sister Lavon Veazey of Rison; eight grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Buie Chapel in Rison with Brother Bill Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Moores Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to service at Buie Funeral Home.
