Linda Faye (Owens) Schales was born on June 22, 1953, in Grapevine, Arkansas, in southern Grant County near Hurricane Creek.
She was the daughter of Bedford and Berta Owens. Early in her life, doctors discovered that Linda was born with a heart condition that she battled all of her life. But her heart condition never slowed her down. She lived her life with a smile and positive energy every single day in spite of her condition. Linda’s faith in Jesus Christ carried her through every second of her life including a serous encounter with a copperhead that bit her as a child. Linda persevered throughout hardships because of her unwavering faith. Her faith and perseverance laid the foundation of a strong woman who as a mother loved her family deeply. That faith led Linda to devote her life to Jesus and son Jeremy Schales. Everyone who knew Linda would tell you that the world has not ever witnessed a better mother. Some of Jeremy’s favorite memories are Linda’s home cooked meals including his favorites – fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and mac and cheese. Whatever Linda cooked made Jeremy happy. Linda was a provider for herself and Jeremy. She always made time for her son, and he was her priority. Some of his fondest memories include him and his mother swimming, visiting county fairs and car shows, and roller skating. She was always at his Tiger Cubs games. They enjoyed listening to music and attending live performances of her nephews playing country music. Her favorite artist was Elvis Presley, and she loved various gospel groups. She often spoke about her favorite pet, LuLu, a tiny chihuahua that was a part of their family. Linda loved and cherished her family and friends. Linda set an example to Jeremy by living her life here to gain eternal life in Heaven. She loved God, her son, and her family – all of which were “her world.” She leaves behind many friends she made through her employment at Westbend, Ouachita School District, and Walmart. She was a hard worker dedicated to doing her best at each ob.
Linda always wanted to take a trip to another country to see new places. Everyone who knew Linda can take comfort in knowing that her dream of seeing new places has been fulfilled as she started her most glorious trip of all to Heaven to join Jesus and her family on July 20, 2026. Linda was preceded in her rest here on Earth by her parents Bedford Foster Owens and Berta Irene, (Anderson) Owens; her siblings Donnie Owens, Bobby Lee Owens, and an infant brother; and her sisters, Connie (Owens), Wootton, Sadie, (Owens), Lawson, and Nelda Owens.
She is survived by her siblings Delman Ray Owens, Marie (Owens) Winston, and David Owens. Linda is also survived by, “the light of her world”, her son, Jeremy Don Schales.
Pallbearers are Jeremy Schales, Ray Owens, Preston Owens, Aaron Owens, Casey Winston, Shannon Winston. Alternate pallbearers are Mike Owens and Robert Wootton.
Visitation is Thursday evening, July 23, from 6-8 p.m. at Buie&Cole Funeral Home, 1301 South Rock St., Sheridan, AR.
