Leland Corker

Leland Richard Corker age 72 of Rison, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at his home. He was born August 11, 1936 in Picher, Oklahoma, a son of the late Leo and Edna Lacey Corker. Mr. Corker retired from the United States Air Force, having served during the Vietnam era. He later worked for Motorola as a maintenance supervisor. Mr. Corker was of the Missionary Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Thurzia Corker whom died on November 15, 2008; three brothers, Earl Walker, Virgil Walker, Jimmy Corker; one sister, Norma Bailey.

Mr. Corker is survived by one son, Mark Pitchford of Rison; three daughters, Leanna Socia of Rison, Debbie Machado and Brenda Dubois, both of Austin Texas; one sister, Sharon Twomey of Folsom, California; four grandchildren, Julie Kennedy, Samuel Machado, Jessica Machado, Brittany Norris; two great grandchildren, Madison Kennedy, Jonah Kennedy.

A celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Buie Funeral Chapel in Rison with Brother Wade Totty officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until service time. Donations may be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
