Lavinia Nell Ambrose

Lavinia Nell Ambrose, age 94, of Little Rock passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026. Nell was born September 6, 1931, in Hope, Arkansas to the late Sammie and Ethel Wright. She was raised on a farm in the Springhill Community. She completed her college studies at St. Vincent School of Nursing and received her R.N. degree. Nell worked at St. Vincent Infirmary for many years. She married the late Harry Edward Ambrose in 1952. Nell was a longtime active member of Highland Valley United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nell was preceded in death by an infant son, Harry Edward Ambrose Jr.; daughter, Robyn Ambrose; and brother, Richard “Dick” Wright. Left to cherish her memory are sons, John Ambrose (Nancy), Harry Phillip Ambrose; four grandchildren, Stephanie Shaver (George), Katherine Nelson (Eric), Brittany Kos and Brandon Ambrose; and sister, Edith Sinyard. Nell also had ten great grandchildren whom she adored; along with a host of extended family and friends.

Nell was known as a nurturer and caretaker of everyone in her life. Animals naturally migrated towards her, knowing they would be loved and tended to. She was quite adept at gardening. Her green thumb earned her a Master Gardener certificate. She was an avid lover, watcher and feeder of wild birds. From her humble beginnings on a farm that had no electricity to our now ultra-modern world, Nell saw a lifetime full of change.

More than anything, Nell loved her family. “Mom”, “Grandma Nell” “Mimi” you will be missed by all of us.
