Julius Chance

Julius Edward "JC" Chance, age 67, of Leola, passed away on May 22, 2026. He was born on November 6, 1958, in Hayesville, North Carolina, and was a resident of Leola for over 25 years.

JC was a tough, resilient man who spent many years working in roofing. In his earlier years, he possessed a deep passion for raising game fowl and a lifelong love for motorcycles. As time passed, his interests turned toward quieter pursuits; he became an avid catfish fisherman, a fan of classic Westerns, and a dedicated viewer of Days of Our Lives, a daily tradition he cherished sharing with his late wife, Linda. He also took great pride in working with his hands as a craftsman and found companionship in his dogs and lizards. While he carried a hard exterior, those close to him knew he had a heart for helping others when it truly mattered.

JC was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Chance; his daughter, Lisa Handley; his son; his brother, James Chance; and his parents, Betty and Johnny "Ebb" Chance.

He is survived by his grandson, Austin Handley and his wife Wittney, and great-grandchildren Cayson, Colt, and Cadence; and his granddaughter, Makayla Coyde and her husband Timothy, and great-grandchildren Bentleigh and Braxton.

A memorial service will be held on May 28, 2026, at 2 pm, at his favorite local church.
