Jerry Donald Cox, age 83, of Woodlawn, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, with his great love, Jane Cox, by his side and surrounded by family who loved him deeply.
Jerry was born on October 30, 1941, in Grapevine, Arkansas, to Hallie Cox, Sr., and Maggie White Cox. He graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1959 and married his wife, Jane Cox, of Smackover, on August 12, 1961, at Double Wells in Sulphur Springs.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Betty Jo Cox, Marie Murdock, and Geraldine Rhoades; and his brothers, Hallie Cox and Glen Cox.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jane, of 64 years; daughters, Stephanie Pooree (Randall) and Sherry Collins; brother, James Cox; granddaughters, Randi Baer (Justin), Ashton Frizzell (Jordan), Laurin Harrod (Kyle), Brianna Standridge (Cody), and Gabby Barnett (Remi); and seven great-grandchildren.
Jerry began his career as a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad in March of 1967, dedicating 35 years of work before retiring in March of 2002. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and fishing, gardening, “pickin’ and grinnin’,” spending time with family, and attending church at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Fitzhugh Cemetery, located on Camden Road Cutoff in Pine Bluff.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, 9238 Sulphur Springs Road, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
