James Monroe "Howard" Ausburn

November 24, 1946 — August 19, 2025

Searcy, AR

James Monroe "Howard" Ausburn Jr., was born on November 24th, 1946, in Kensett, AR. He graduated from Searcy High School and lived most of his life in White County.

He joined the Army in 1966 and was stationed in Germany. He worked as an engine and power train repair man and was honorably discharged in1968 as an E4.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Anne Horton Ausburn, and his daughters: Jamie Ausburn, Farah Robbins (Brandan), and his son, James Howard Ausburn (Amber). His grandchildren, including Peregryn Robbins (Samantha), Aidan Robbins, Luke Craig, Emmitt Craig, and Clark Craig. James is also survived by his sister, Sharon Burns (Bobby), his brother Danny and sister Karen Martin (Randy). And many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Ausburn Sr., his mother, Maxine Taylor Ausburn, and his sisters, Lisa Baggette and Carolyn Ausburn.

James farmed all of his life. He farmed cotton, soybean, cattle and rice. He also kept a big garden. Later on, he used skills learned in the Army to begin a career with the railroad. Beginning with the wheel shop and working his way through several different positions. He retired after many years.

Being someone who loved the demolition derby, he spent a lot of time building cars with family and using them in events. He was #33.

James was a very quiet, solitary man, and loved to listen rather than talk. Visiting others was not his thing, but he really enjoyed people and family to visit him. There is a quote that sums him up, "The shallow murmur, but the deep are silent."

James was loved by many and those that knew him knew he was wise. He built a great life. His stories were infectious, and his laughter will always be remembered.

Genesis 2:15 "Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the Garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it."

Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Friday, August 22 with service following at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow at West Point Cemetery.
