Carla Belinda Thomasson was born August 12th, 1952. Along the slender thread of time she was handed, Carla steadily wove a life of service till she found the final strand on November 22nd, 2013. Till then she lovingly transfigured all the things she touched. A deeply spiritual and devoted Christian, she sought to build the Kingdom through compassion and discernment with energy and determination. Carla was past Principal of Trinity Heights Academy, a private nonprofit school for children with learning differences; Director of Give a Kid a Chance Arkansas and champion in the community for church-school volunteer partnerships; Visionary originator of Wilson School Ministries at St. Andrew's Church, where she was a member; and Registrar for the Anglican School of Ministry and assistant for clergy formation within the Anglican Mission in America. In the end, Carla personified St. Francis: "Preach the Gospel, and speak if you must." She served on boards for the Humane Society of Pulaski County, the Single Parent/Displaced Homemaker program at Pulaski Technical College, and Nonprofit Resources; contributed to the Word of Life radio program; pioneered in the movement to establish Christian education and advocated for the legal recognition of home schooling; and graduated from the Healing Racism Institute dedicated to an inclusive, antiracist community. Predeceased by her father, Guy Leon Burton, Carla is survived by her husband, Robert M. Thomasson; her mother, Lois (Bobbie) VanDusen; her daughters Melanie Thomasson Dawson and Kara Michelle Thomasson; son-in-law, Alex Dawson; grandchildren Alexander Banks and Harper Grace Dawson; sisters Bette Burton and Lea Obermeyer; sister-in-law Patsy Thomasson and brother-in-law Ben Thomasson; nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
