A model of compassion and patience, Bobby Jack Tucker died on April 11, 2023 at the age of 86. He was a family man who is survived by his wife of 64 years and love of his life, Dollie McCauley Tucker. Together, they raised two sons: Todd and Tracy and his wife Summer. He is also survived by his grandsons Matt and his wife Taylor and Miller. He cherished his time with his sons, his grandsons and their families.
Additionally, he is survived by his nieces and nephews and their extended families whom he considered his daughters and sons; especially two nieces, Billie Blanchard and Anita Murrell, and his great-nephew, Dan Murrell, each having a special relationship with him. Having lost his natural parents early in life, he considered it a blessing to count as his family the Tuckers and the Beasons, and, upon marriage, the McCauleys.
He was a man of strong faith. A member of the Rison United Methodist Church, he served as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent and chair of various committees.
He was an educator who never lost interest in learning. A graduate of Rison High School, he attained a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas in the 1950s. He studied computer programming in the 1970s to understand information technology and attended the University of Louisiana/LaFayette in the 1980s to further his interest in hydroponic gardening. An early participant with the internet, he joined interactive websites (a precursor to social media) in the 1990s and maintained a John Deere ‘blog in the 2000s.
He was an avid sports fan. Having played on the 1950 Rison High School state champion football team, his interest in the strategy and tactics of the sport endured. Always a Wildcat and Razorback fan, his ability to recall statistics on games, players and coaches was amazing. On a given Saturday in the fall, he may have watched 3 games, taping another 3 for Sunday afternoon viewing. He was loved and will be missed.
Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
