Bobbye Jean Brengard

Bobbye Brengard, age 92, passed away on July 1, 2025 at Presbyterian Village in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born to Theodore and Mildred Winbury on February 15, 1933 in Waldo, Arkansas. She is survived by her sons Norman D. “Butch” Pumphrey, Jr. (Anita), Gregory C. Pumphrey (Debbie), and David L. Pumphrey; her grandchildren Clint Pumphrey (Darcy), Scott Pumphrey, Rachel Pumphrey Lane (Jeff), Matthew Pumphrey, Karis Pumphrey Johnson (Gage), Joshua Pumphrey (Anna), and Hannah Pumphrey; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces Kristie Cloud Marshall (Mark) and Kellie Cloud. Bobbye also became particularly close to members of the Max Brengard family, and she is survived by his children Richard Brengard (Vivian), Ronnie Brengard (Marlene), and Chris (Tracy).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Mildred Winbury; first husband, Norman Dean Pumphrey; her second husband Marquard Joseph “Max” Brengard; sister Linda Winbury Cloud; and grandson Adam Clayton Pumphrey.

Bobbye grew up in East End, Arkansas and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1950. After raising three boys and working part-time at the Geyer Springs First Baptist Church preschool program, she moved to Paragould, Arkansas. There she worked in several capacities and enjoyed her work with the Greene County Circuit Clerk and with Brengard Realty. She earned her broker’s license and worked in property management for 25 years mostly with Dickinson Property Management. Bobbye was an active member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Paragould Board of Realtors, and the Paragould City Beautiful Commission. She retired at age 80 and eventually moved back to East End to be near her sons.

She was a Christian, having made a profession of faith as a young girl, and loved her Sunday School class and teaching children in the Awana program at First Baptist Church in Paragould where she was a decades-long member, Bobbye enjoyed traveling with the senior adult program at church, with the Paragould Senior BEES, with friends, and with family. She delighted in spending time with friends and family, going out to eat, decorating her home especially at Christmas, and working in her yard. Bobbye loved people and people loved her! She will be certainly be missed by those she knew and loved.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 9 at 11:00 am at East End Baptist Church in East End, Arkansas. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery in East End, Arkansas.
