Birdie Reed

Elmer Birdie Reed, age 94, of Rison, Arkansas passed away Monday, December 29, 2014. She was born on April 27, 1920 in Rison, a daughter of the late William Jasper Reed and Edna Virginia Lain Reed. Mrs. Reed was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Pine Bluff and was retired owner-operator of Birdie's Beauty Shop. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leon L. Reed; son, J. Carl Reed; daughter, Betty Jean Roberts; brothers, Jack Reed, Grady Reed, Leon C. Reed and Garvin Reed; and sister, Mae Bell. Left to cherish her memory are four grandchildren, Cyndi Drye of Rison, Amy Hall of Rison, Lynn Taggert of Searcy and J. Carl Reed of Stuttgart; seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Varnell Cemetery in Rison, with Reverend Jonathan Hall officiating. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
