Betty Jane Gracie Rodgers

Betty Jean Rodgers, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 13, 2026, while she was a resident at the Greenhouse Cottages of Southern Hills in Rison. She was born in Rison on March 2, 1934, to the late Lee Gracie and the late Amy Lisemby. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jack Hamilton Rodgers, whom she married on July 11, 1953. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother Maggie Leopard of Rison and Victor Gracie of the Hardin Community, as well as numerous other half brothers and sisters.

Mamaw Betty is survived by her son and two daughters, Lavonda Doss (Steve), Jack Hamilton Rodgers, II (Marilyn), and Tracey Breshears (late Kevin) all of the Pleasant Ridge Community; 9 grandchildren: Kevin Doss, Kimberly Adair, Katherine Bradley, Ryan Breshears, Jackie Breashers, Zane Breshears, Scotty Gwinn, Donna Kieger and the late Scooter; 13 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Mamaw Betty was a nurse at JRMC for 20+ years, where she retired. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. She spent her retirement taking care of her cows, especially her bulls. She enjoyed working in her garden and taking care of her dogs, the late Jake and now King. Above all else she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Leopard, Kevin Doss, Zane Breshears, Ryan Breshears, Steven Adair, Ethan Adair, and Scotty Gwinn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Melhorn, Dr. John E. Harris, James Raby, James White, David Davis, David Melhorn, Leon Reed, Frank Wilson and Gary Young.
