It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Benjamin Kenneth Ridgway Sr., who left us on December 23, 2024. Born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Kenneth was the son of William Basil and Gladys Hall Ridgway. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School and earned his degree from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Kenneth was a devoted member of the Pleasant Plains United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the administrative board. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Benjamin Kenneth Ridgway Jr., and his brother James W. Ridgway. A passionate fox hunter, Kenneth proudly earned his place in the Arkansas State Foxhunters Hall of Fame. He cherished his time spent outdoors, particularly tending to his yard with his Mark Martin Spartan lawnmower. Kenneth also enjoyed playing dominoes with neighbors and never missed an opportunity to attend a ball game for White County Central School.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carolyn Evans Ridgway; his daughter, Vandy Holloway, and her husband Mark; his daughter-in-law, Andi Ridgway; and his sister-in-law, Sherrie Ridgway. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Kenneth was deeply loved by his family and friends and had a remarkable ability to connect with others, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered for his warmth, kindness, and zest for life.
